World Triathlon Champs - Beijing 2011

Warrington Tri member. Jill Carlin competed in the Sprint event (750m swim, 20K cycle and 5K run. Jill finished an amazing 6th in her age group. Well done!
European Triathlon Champs - Pontevedra 2011
Warrington Tri members battled the heat in the European Triathlon Champs in Pontevedra (Spain). Jill Carlin competed in the Sprint event (750m
swim, 20K cycle and 5K run. Jill finished am amazing 8th in her age group and is also now gettting ready to race at Beijing in Spetember in the World triathlon Champs.
Training news Strength and Conditioning (Circuits) at Lymm HIgh School on Tuesday nights has now finished for the winter. Thanks to all those who enjoyed the sessions. This starts again on the 11th October 2011for 12 weeks. Details of the recent tests are here

Please come along to have your say on how the club is run. The more people we get the better, and the easier, we as your committee will find it, to run the club as you want it. If you feel you have something to offer the club there are 4 positions up for re-election this year.

Christmas 2010 Training update
Swimming
The last swimming session for 2010 is this weekend. Swimming will start again on 2011 on the 8th Jan.
Circuits
Will start again on the 12th Jan for 12 weeks. Carl will again be running this weekly session
Cycling
This weekend is the Christmas social ride, with no ride the week after. The 2011 rides start on the 2nd Jan. Please note that with the recent weather problems the club rides will not take place if the roads are considered to be too dangerous from snow or ice.
Don’t forget the Turkey trot on the 27th December, to help run of the Xmas excess!

World Record attempt
Soreen HQ (everyones favourite malt loaf!!) are organising an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for: The most power generated by bicycle in 24 hours
Friday 1st October at 5pm to Saturday 2nd October 5pm.
The Guinness World Record currently stands at 12,953 watts
The attempt is taking place at the Velodrome, Sports City, Manchester, and involves one hundred Watt bikes.

Each participant is requested to commit to riding for a minimum of 30 minutes, although more is greatly appreciated! You are welcome to stay and watch or encourage others after you have finished riding but there is no obligation to do so.

Participants will get a Soreen goody bag and a certificate to thank them for their participation. There will also be spot prizes on the day!

2010 Awards Night 20th November
The date for submission of standard qualifying times is 20th October 2010. Please ensure you have made any claims before this date. All awards will be presented along with some special awards and some fun things to do. More details soon.

Warrington Triathlon clubs Katie Benson finished 3rd in her age group and 14 women overall in last sundays Ironman UK, Bolton. With a finish time of 11hours and 56mins, finishing 3rd means Katie just misses a chance to gain a Kona race slot for the World champs. Ironman UK was her second Ironman race this summer after racing in Ironman Germany in July.

Warrington Triathlon club will have 3 club members representing Great Britain
at the Triathlon Age Group World Championships in Budapest this september.
Club members are competing in the sprint and standard distance World Championships at the 11th and 12th September.
With Jill Carlin (Lymm) and Dan Chesters (Warrington) racing in the Sprint event (750m swim, 20K cycle and 5K run), Jonathan Britton (Sandymoor) racing in the standard event (1500m swim, 40K cycle, 10K run).

Congratulations to Warrington Tri members Jonathan Britton on placing 2nd in his Age Group at the National Aquathlon champs at Salford Quays.Competitors were required to swim 750m and run5km. The event run by Manchester Tri club reprsented a return of the event to Salford Quays after 4 years.
European Triathlon Champs - Athlone 2010
Warrington Tri members battled the wind and rain to compete in the European Triathlon Champs in Athlone (Ireland). Jill Carlin competed in the Sprint event (750m
swim, 20K cycle and 5K run, and Jonathan Britton and Leila Coulter racing in the standard event (1500m swim,
40K cycle, 10K run). The weather made conditions hard with heavy rain and gusts of 60mph, making the cycle course a challange.
